Greetings NACA® Central!
The 2017 NACA® Central Regional Conference Planning Committee is excited to help you ‘Unmask Your Opportunities’ and learn to be the hero you already are. Check out the web site to identify specific ways to engage in the conference and add to your super human skills. The web site also outlines ways you can be a hero, not just on your campus, but in the Central Region. We continue to focus on collaboration and community, while adding news ways for all to be engaged and continue to grow from the conference experience. A few ways you can really engage in our theme this year is by:
Unmasking your opportunities by exploring a new host site! “It’s not about where you were born or what powers you have or what you wear on your chest. It’s about what you do…it’s about action.” - Superman NACA Central is thrilled to welcome you to Oklahoma City! You will find that you are in the heart of downtown and just a few minutes walk from many restaurants and activities. Finding a place to head for lunch or dinner on your own will be easy as there are dozens of restaurants ready to greet you. Hopefully you can take action, explore the city, and can take advantage of the pre-conference session at the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial Museum!
Unmasking your opportunities by completing business at block booking! “I can save today, you can save the world.” – Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman We love saving money, especially when all of our budgets are getting cut. You can save your institution’s programming budgets when you show up to EVERY block booking meeting to discuss who you are interested in and ways you can work with others in the room.
Unmasking your opportunities by engaging in socials and networking events! “When you decide not to be afraid, you can find friends in super unexpected places.” – Ms. Marvel Connections are so important in student affairs! The planning committee heard you want more opportunities to connect and meet others in the region, so we have intentionally created opportunities for this. Each evening students can partake in a social that is specifically designed for YOU by your peers! During the school swap on Friday, your delegation will have the chance to showcase your programming board and all the awesome things you are doing. During the conference, we will have a wall of ideas so ideas and events can be shared. Seasoned and new advisors will have the opportunity to meet each other at a special advisor meet-up on Friday morning. These are just a few of the opportunities to connect at the conference. Be sure to look at the full schedule for more chances!
Unmasking your opportunities by attending educational sessions “With great power comes great responsibility.” – Uncle Ben in Spiderman Your school invested power in you by sending you to this conference. It is now your responsibility to take full advantage of the conference and attend each educational session. After the conference you will be armed with great knowledge that you can bring back to your campus to continue improving your events and programming board.
We cannot wait to combine forces with you to ‘Unmask Your Opportunities’ and show the strength of NACA’S Central Region, see you in OKC.
